Quantum technology is rapidly gaining importance worldwide: New quantum computers are being put into operation in Europe, the number of patents is rising, and applications are increasingly finding their way into industry. Against this backdrop, World of Quantum is now recognized as a world-leading trade fair. The next edition will take place in Munich from June 22 to 25, 2027.
The figures from the previous event in June 2025 show that, with 160 exhibitors from 16 countries and over 24,200 trade visitors, it is the world’s largest trade fair for quantum technologies. “The proposal to elevate World of Quantum to the status of world-leading trade fair originated from our advisory board, which comprises representatives from industry and academia. The board endorsed this unanimously, which shows that the industry is firmly behind the trade fair,” says Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, Managing Director of Messe München.
“As a new world-leading trade fair, World of Quantum marks a true milestone for the global quantum community—and at the same time represents a strong commitment to Bavaria as a hub for innovation,” explains Dr. Fabian Mehring, Bavarian Minister of State for Digital Affairs. “In Bavaria, we don’t just want to be part of the quantum revolution—we want to play a leading role and actively help shape the key technologies of tomorrow. That is why we are actively developing the Munich metropolitan region into Europe’s hub for quantum innovation and setting the stage for the brightest minds from the worlds of science and business along the Isar.”
Alexander Glätzle, CEO and co-founder of planqc, adds: “For us, World of Quantum is the most important trade fair in the field of quantum technologies—and Munich is exactly the right place for it. The local ecosystem is among the strongest in the world, with excellent research, deep industrial expertise, and a growing number of innovative companies.”
Quantum technology has already made the leap from basic research to industrial applications, for example in quantum sensor technology and, in some cases, in quantum communication. It is also identified as one of the six key technologies of the future in the German government’s new High-Tech Agenda. Exhibition Director Anke Odouli says: “With World of Quantum, we are creating a global platform where the international quantum community can network, exchange ideas, and work together to bring further industrial applications to market.”
To strengthen ties with relevant fields of application, World of Quantum will be going on tour with a roadshow in 2026, the year between editions of the trade fair: In July, it will host a panel discussion at the Festival of the Future in Munich; in November, it will have its own booth and a forum slot at electronica, also in Munich.
